How long does conveyancing take?

What is conveyancing?

It is the process of transferring the legal title to a property from the seller to the buyer. The steps required in conveyancing are the same for each transaction, yet the time they take to complete varies depending on the circumstances involved (such as the condition of the property or if the buyer and/or seller are in a chain). 

How long does conveyancing normally take?

If the transaction is straightforward, the conveyancing process should take roughly six to eight weeks to complete. Complex transactions, however, can take much longer. It is important to be aware that unexpected problems can occur and cause delays in any situation. An experienced Conveyancing Solicitor will help you deal with any complications effectively and get your transaction back on track as quickly as possible. 

What problems can delay conveyancing? 

There are several issues that can impact the time it takes for your sale or purchase to complete.
